Local, Regional or National Product Sourcing/Origination
Consumers prefer to source their food from as close to home as possible. Our priority is to source products from regional suppliers around our assets and, when that isn’t possible, fill in the gaps using our assured global network.
KPI: Number of suppliers by State/Province in the U.S. and Canada
We have a robust network of farmers growing certified, traceable products both within the United States and just across the border in Canada. Speak to number of growers that we sourced from in Canada and the US in 2018. Data on number of growers that we are communicating with.
Investment in Assets
Part of our business model is to build efficiencies into the supply chain by investing in assets that are usually on rail lines, thereby minimizing the total distance crops are transported from farm gate to food company. It is our intent to measure the Scope 2 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions implications of these investments and this strategy for calendar year 2019.
