The Pipeline Food Integrity System is a quality management system that encompasses food safety, food defense, and food fraud programs with the sole purpose of ensuring all product received, stored and distributed by Pipeline Foods is wholesome, safe, and meets all applicable regulations.

Food Integrity System

 

Pipeline’s Food Integrity System is designed to create a linked system of compliance providing complete source-to-sale traceability of organic products and accountability of each operation in the global supply chain.  Pre-requisite programs, such as FSMA’s Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP), Recall Management Program and Sanitation programs make up the foundation of the system, with our Preventive Control Risk Assessment addressing the reasonably foreseeable food safety hazards. This program is reviewed yearly to assure compliance and continual improvement.

Pipeline has a Food and Safety Plan designed to comply with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) rule. This is a policy that applies to all FDA-regulated product in the U.S., and, per the Foreign Supplier Verification Program, extends to all foreign Pipeline sites and foreign suppliers to Pipeline Foods. The plan came into force on December 19, 2017 and will be reviewed and revised at the earlier of every three years or whenever there is a change in the Company’s operational practices.

In 2018, Pipeline purchased QPulse software (Integrated Management System) and commenced build-out of an online real time environmental, human health and safety, organic integrity, and food safety management system.  By year-end, the system had been constructed to include environmental, OSH, and food safety compliance documents (policies, SOPs, forms, etc.).  The system will continue to be developed to include additional aspects of organic integrity and the food fraud program, while inventory management will continue to live in our ERP.  Next steps include build out of QPulse to track and report non-conformances, corrective actions, and audits and inspections.

 
 

Certified Facilities 

Pipeline Foods owns and operates two third-party certified Safe Quality Food (SQF) facilities in the United States, in Hope, MN and Cresco, IA. The SQF program is one of the world’s leading food safety and quality management systems internationally recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to meet the needs of the entire supply chain. Three Pipeline Foods facilities (Hope, MN; Cresco, IA; and Malden, MO) also carry Kosher certifications. Next steps include third party GMP+ certification of two grain elevators.
